My bio
My name is Jessica Heft, MD, MS and I am an Assistant Professor at the University of Florida College of Medicine in the Division of Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery (also called Urogynecology) in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
I grew up in Oklahoma and Florida and attended the University of Florida, where I earned my Bachelor of Science in Classical Studies. I went on to pursue my Master of Science in Physiology and Biophysics at Georgetown University before attending medical school at University of South Florida. Following medical school, I completed my residency in obstetrics and gynecology and subsequent 3-year fellowship in female pelvic medicine and reconstructive surgery at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee where I served as Chief Fellow. I鈥檝e been fortunate enough to receive funding from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) for my research in urogynecology and patient-centered outcomes, publish in several peer-reviewed journals, and present at multiple national and international conferences.
I am double board certified in obstetrics & gynecology as well as female pelvic medicine & reconstructive surgery by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology. I am a member of Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society, Phi Beta Kappa Academic Honor Society, the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, American Urogynecologic Society, and Society of Gynecologic Surgeons. In addition to my clinical responsibilities, I am also passionate about medical education and serve as the Program Director for the Obstetrics and Gynecology Residency at the University of Florida College of Medicine.
My clinical interests include vaginal, laparoscopic, and robotic-assisted surgical approaches to pelvic organ prolapse, clinical research to implement evidence-based practices, and complex obstetric laceration repair and revision.
My goal as a physician is to empower my patients through education and provide high-level, compassionate medical and surgical treatments. Many of my patients have spent their entire lives taking care of other people and I consider it a privilege to be able to help give those women their quality-of-life back.
In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my husband and three children, watching Braves baseball, and exploring the many State Parks that North Central Florida has to offer.
