Feeding/Swallowing Specialties
Speech-language pathologists and occupational therapists work together to provide comprehensive feeding and swallowing rehabilitation. In collaboration with the medical team, the occupational therapist provides evaluation and treatment of the oral motor structures and function for breast/bottle feeding, chewing and food aversion concerns. Techniques such as Beckman and SOS treatment strategies are used for remediation of these problems. In collaboration with the medical team, the speech-language pathologist specializes in evaluation and treatment of swallowing dysfunction using clinical evaluation and modified barium swallow studies.
