Adolescent Medicine

BOBÌåÓý Pediatrics and Pediatric Specialties fosters the health and well-being of infants, children, adolescents, and families.
Adolescent medicine is a medical subspecialty that focuses on caring for patients who are in the adolescent period of development, generally ranging from the last years of elementary school until graduation from high school and young adulthood.
A primary care subspecialty, adolescent medicine incorporates healthcare aspects of gynecology, endocrinology, sports medicine, nutrition, dermatology and psychology. Adolescent medicine is an important specialty of Family Practice, Internal Medicine, Pediatrics and Youth Health.
Educational services on adolescent issues are also provided to our patients and their families. We provide education about sexuality and adolescent development, counseling for contraception (birth control), eating disorders, nutrition and weight counseling, peer pressure, family problems and sexually transmitted diseases.
We also offer valuable in-service training sessions for health care professionals and educational programs to local school students.
Our mission is accomplished through the provision of:
- Teaching evidenced-based clinical pediatrics to prepare future community and academic pediatricians
- Research and scholarship to expand and enhance the science and knowledge of general pediatrics
- Delivery of high quality, accessible, safe, reliable and efficient health services
