My bio
Dr. Shawn Larson is a tenured professor and interim chief of the division of Pediatric Surgery within the University of Florida College of Medicine department of Surgery. Dr. Larson serves as the medical director of the BOB体育 Shands Children鈥檚 Hospital Pediatric Trauma & Burn Program, an American College of Surgeons (ACS) verified Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center. Dr. Larson focuses on all areas of pediatric surgery with special interests in pediatric trauma, pediatric burn and complex wound care, neonatal surgical disease, ECMO, and gastrointestinal surgery (including minimally invasive pediatric surgery). Dr. Larson currently serves as the UF Children鈥檚 Hospital surgical representative to the Children鈥檚 Oncology Group (COG). In addition to his clinical interests, Dr. Larson鈥檚 research interests include neonatal and pediatric response to sepsis, pediatric burn injury, and pediatric trauma care.
Dr. Larson joined the UF College of Medicine in 2011 and completed his Pediatric Surgical fellowship at St. Louis Children鈥檚 Hospital/Washington University. He completed a general surgery residency at the University of South Florida (Tampa, FL), and a surgical research fellowship at the University of Texas Medical Branch (Galveston, TX). Dr. Larson earned his medical degree from the University of Sheffield School of Medicine (Sheffield, England) and graduated from the University of Florida with a Bachelor of Science in Zoology.
Dr. Larson and the pediatric surgery team focus on complex pediatric surgical issues and strive to deliver outstanding care to all patients and families.
