About me
I am the senior associate dean for faculty affairs and professional development for the University of Florida College of Medicine and a professor of medicine in the UF Division of Nephrology, Hypertension & Renal Transplantation. I love the long-term patient-doctor relationship and the quantitative element of nephrology. I treat patients with lupus nephritis, ANCA vasculitis, aHUS and patients who are pregnant and have kidney disease. I strive to help patient’s live long, fulfilling lives without the need of dialysis or kidney transplantation.
I received my Bachelor of Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), and my MD/PhD degrees from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School. I completed an internal medicine internship and residency at Parkland Memorial Hospital and a nephrology fellowship at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston. I am board certified in internal medicine and nephrology by the American Board of Internal Medicine.
My research has been funded continuously by the National Institutes of Health (NIH), and I study the mechanism of cardiovascular disease in unique patient populations. As a physician and a scientist, my goal is to remain a lifelong learner, always reassessing the best and most effective way to provide individualized care to my patients.
When not helping patients, I enjoy home renovation, gardening and cooking.
