Hello, I'm Marissa Hawkins, a physical therapist at BOBÌåÓý. My educational journey began with a bachelor of science in psychology from the University of North Florida. I then earned a doctorate of physical therapy from the University of Florida.

My commitment to excellence is reflected in my credentials as a board-certified sports clinical specialist, board-certified orthopaedic clinical specialist and a certified strength and conditioning specialist. Specializing in post-operative care for sports-related injuries, my particular focus lies in adolescent athletes, with a keen interest in shoulder and knee injuries, especially among baseball and softball players.

Growing up actively involved in sports, I witnessed firsthand the rehabilitation journeys of friends and teammates. This experience fueled my desire to pursue a profession that would allow me to stay close to athletics while aiding individuals in returning to their highest level of function and sport.

As a therapist, my primary goal is to find innovative ways to help my patients return to the activities that mean the most to them. Currently, I am engaged in research focusing on the return to sport following upper extremity injuries in baseball and softball players. This research tracks functional outcomes during the rehabilitation process and assesses long-term outcomes, shedding light on the athletes' abilities to return to sports.

Outside the clinic and research setting, I find joy in traveling, hiking, spending time on or near the water, cheering for Gator sporting events and creating cherished memories with my husband and two sons. As a Gainesville native, born and raised in Archer, I consider myself lucky to be raising my family in this vibrant community.
