What is a stroke?
A stroke is a very serious medical emergency that occurs when blood flow is cut off to an area of the brain 鈥� a literal 鈥榖rain attack.鈥� Without blood flow, brain cells are deprived of oxygen and begin to die. This means that the abilities controlled by those areas of the brain, such as memory and muscle control, are lost.

Our patients also have access to a unique multidisciplinary team of specialists and the code stroke system, which diagnoses stroke prior to arrival in the E.R. Within minutes, the hospital鈥檚 response team is able to perform neurological exams, blood tests and CT scans.
