Description

Injectable gel products for volume replacement.

Why the procedure is performed

Dermal fillers are used for age-related volume loss to the face as well as injection into the lips and perioral area for lip augmentation.

Risks

Injection site redness, bruising, swelling, pain, tenderness, firmness, nodules, palpable material, allergic reaction, variable duration of effect, need for additional treatment. Should not be used with history of allergies to gram-positive bacterial products.

Before the procedure

• Avoid aspirin, ibuprofen and fish oil one week prior to procedure to minimize bruising.
• Avoid dental procedures for at least two weeks before treatment.

After the procedure

• Avoid make-up for up to 12 hours.

• Avoid the following for up to 24 hours: strenuous exercise, extensive heat or sun exposure, alcoholic beverages, abrasive or prescription strength products.
• Resist touching or massaging the treated area.
• Apply cool compresses for a brief period following the procedure to minimize swelling.
• Postpone dental procedures for at least two weeks after treatment.
• Please speak with your provider before scheduling a laser treatment, chemical peel or any other procedure that may involve the treatment site.
