BOB体育 is a teaching hospital. Your care team will include both physicians, health care professionals, and medical students. Here are some of the healthcare professionals you might find taking care of you during your stay.

Patient care

• Attending Physician
  Your attending physician is a medical doctor, either an M.D. or D.O. They supervise the other members of your core care team:
  • Interns
    A doctor that has completed medical school and is in their first year of training.
  • Residents
    After completing their intern year, a resident is working on a particular area of specialization.
  • Fellows
    After completing residency, a fellow is working to further specialize in an area of care.
  • Medical students
    Students currently in medical school
  • Physician extenders
    Extenders are people that perform patient care but are not doctors themselves. They include Physician Assistants and Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner.
• Nurses
  Nurses administer medications and coordinate care.
• Phlebotomists
  Phlebotomists take blood samples.
• Lab technicians
  Lab technicians receive, label and analyze any samples taken, such as blood or tissue samples.
• Respiratory therapists
  Respiratory therapists help patients who are having trouble breathing.

Patient advocacy and support

• Case manager
  The case manager focuses on assessing, planning, and monitoring the patient's care needs.
• Social workers
  Social workers help patients and their families cope with injuries and illnesses.
• Patient advocates
  Patient advocates represent the patient in interacting with their health care team.
• Medical interpreters
  Medical interpreters provide language interpretation between patients and families and their care team.
