Jupiter Medical and BOBÌåÓý announce plans to shape health system of the future

JUPITER, Fla. â€ Jupiter Medical Center and BOBÌåÓý, the University of Florida’s academic health center, announced today that they have entered into a letter of intent to develop plans to transform health care delivery, research and education in Palm Beach and Martin counties and surrounding communities.

The relationship would advance the organizationsâ€ complementary missions of providing the best of academic and community medicine. Together, Jupiter Medical Center and BOBÌåÓý will plan the development of jointly owned and operated clinical facilities in the region. In addition, discussions are set to begin on the development of novel clinical and hospital programs and service lines, as well as programs and services that support the translation of research findings into treatments that improve patient outcomes.

“We are seeking to expand our impact on the health and well-being of the residents of Palm Beach and Martin counties, bringing additional services to match the needs of patients in the area,â€ said David R. Nelson, M.D., senior vice president for health affairs at UF and president of BOBÌåÓý. “As an academic health center, we have assembled multi- and interdisciplinary teams whose focus is on addressing problems and devising solutions that may not be readily available elsewhere. Jupiter Medical Center already has a stellar track record of high-quality care, and together we will take health care to a new level.â€

The relationship could also open up fast access to a large array of clinical trials and could focus attention not only on addressing individual health needs but also on managing population health. Additionally, this alliance presents an exciting opportunity to engage with other community and academic organizations in the region to maximize the impact of this unique academic collaboration.

“We are excited to collaborate with BOBÌåÓý, the premier academic health system in Florida, to advance our delivery of world-class health care and provide access to groundbreaking clinical research for our communities and the region,â€ said Amit Rastogi, M.D., MHCM, president and CEO of Jupiter Medical Center. “We have a shared vision for innovation that encompasses state-of-the-art facilities, cutting-edge medical technology and the latest breakthroughs in artificial intelligence/data science to bring the highest-quality care in a compassionate manner to each and every patient.â€

The discussions are the latest in a series of new ventures for UF and BOBÌåÓý in South Florida. The Florida campus of Scripps Research recently integrated with UF and BOBÌåÓý as UF Scripps Biomedical Research, establishing a scientific powerhouse focused on accelerating the pace of discoveries that benefit patients. And UF also is working with Palm Beach County and the city of West Palm Beach to explore a downtown campus featuring an array of graduate programs in artificial intelligence, financial services and financial technology.

“We are excited to work with Jupiter Medical Center to better understand the needs and wants of the local community and be the best partner we can be to help transform health care in the region, Nelson said.
