Description
Pink Pumpkins Rule! And, this year we have two Pink Pumpkin events to raise money for breast cancer research right here at UF&Shands, to engage the Gainesville community with UF&Shands, and to spread the word that annual breast cancer screening saves lives!
Pink Pumpkin Pedal-Off bicycle tour fundraiser to benefit triple negative breast cancer research at the UF Shands Cancer Center: Register to ride your choice of 20, 40 or 55-mile routes and tour the University of Florida campus, Gainesville's historic southeast district, the natural beauty of local lakes and habitats, and a roll along one of Florida's converted rail-trails. Wear a pink ribbon to honor a loved one affected by breast cancer. Support treatment-resistant breast cancer research and take home a commemorative pink pumpkin after the ride. Registration fee includes Dri-Fit shirt and lunch. Register online at ! Can't ride but still want to participate? Sign up to "SPIN for the Cure" and visit www.mylifestylewellness.com for more details.
The UF&Shands 2nd Annual Pink Pumpkin Painting Party starts at 10 a.m., immediately following the Pink Pumpkin Pedal-Off, on the southeast lawn of the Cancer Genetics Research Complex on the corner of Gale Lemerand Drive and Archer Road. RSVP to pick your very own pink pumpkin from our "Pink Pumpkin Patch" and decorate it to honor a loved one who's been touched by breast cancer. Bring the kids along, too, because there's a Pee Wee Pedal-Off for kids ages 12 and under. They'll have a chance to decorate their bikes, participate in a parade and compete for prizes for best-decorated bike!
