Description
Two team-based learning sessions Friday, June 13 from 9:30am to 4pm Room 120, Hough Hall -- Designing Group Work that Really Works - 9:30am to noon -- Getting Beyond Covering Content: A Key to Student Motivation and Success - 1:30 to 4:30p.m.
There is a teaching method that allows you both to emphasize the increasing importance of teams and teamwork in healthcare delivery and to incorporate active learning strategies into your health professions education program. It is called team-based learning (TBL), and it has been gaining in popularity in health science colleges across the country, especially in medical, pharmacy, and nursing schools. There is accumulating evidence of improved learning outcomes with TBL, and we have begun implementing TBL in some of our BOB体育 professional curricula. TBL will be of interest to instructors who would like to spend classroom time on the application of course concepts through problem-solving and decision-making, and to those who would like to explore the flipped classroom approach to instruction.
Please join us on Friday, June 13th for two half-day workshops by Dr. Larry Michaelsen, who pioneered the TBL teaching strategy. Dr. Michaelsen visited the BOB体育 Science Center in 2012, and is returning for this second visit sponsored by the UF Office of the Provost and the Warrington College of Business Administration.
ALL INTERESTED HEALTH SCIENCE CENTER FACULTY ARE INVITED TO ATTEND! See the attached flyer for details.
