In addition to patient care, scholarship, and other educational activities, Graduate Medical Education (GME) can play a vital role in contributing to the overall success of your department. As such, the negotiation and relationship between the program director and department chair are vital. A better understanding of the competing goods of each position will allow the program to fulfill its missions to the discipline by training outstanding residents and to the department by enhancing its reputation.
Objectives:
Further your understanding of the requirements and benefits of a residency program. Understand the competing activities within a department. Create a plan that creates an outstanding residency program and contributes the goals of the department.
