The University of Florida will offer free baseline concussion tests for youths ages 9 to 18 through the Concussion Surveillance and Management Project led by Health IMPACTS for Florida, a community research project conducted in partnership with Florida State University Researchers and Athlete Brain. Trained UF students will evaluate participants using the Sport Concussion Assessment Tool (SCAT3), a standardized method of assessing concussion. Baseline concussion tests collect information on how an individual normally performs on the test, which helps health professionals make treatment decisions if a concussion is suspected in the future.
