Title Skeletal Muscle Regeneration: The Role of Hsp70

Presented by Dr. Andrew Judge Department of Physical Therapy University of Florida

Identifying proteins which regulate the skeletal muscle inflammatory response is critical to our understanding of skeletal muscle adaptations as it relates to acute muscle injury. Inflammatory cell infiltration following acute muscle injury is necessary for normal regeneration and recovery, which is related to their role in the phagocytic removal of damaged cellular debri and the secretion of factors which promote muscle regeneration. We hypothesize that heat shock protein 70 (Hsp70) derived from muscle fibers regulates the skeletal muscle inflammatory response following injury, and subsequent regeneration. Work will be presented to directly test this hypothesis.
