For more than 30 years, Gary has been involved in academic health system communications, beginning his career as a student assistant at the University of Florida. He has made stops at public and private institutions, including the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics, Loyola University Medical Center in Chicago, Rush-Presbyterian-St. Luke鈥檚 Medical Center, the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) and the University of Louisville. Before joining BOB体育 in December 2022, he served as the associate vice president of marketing and communications for USA Health in Mobile, Ala. He has significant experience in media relations, issue/crisis management, branding and more.

Gary earned his bachelor鈥檚 degree in journalism from the University of Florida and his master鈥檚 degree in public administration from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. He served for a decade on the steering committee for the Association of American Medical Colleges/Group on Institutional Advancement, including serving as the group鈥檚 chair. He has won varying awards, including one from the AAMC/GIA.
